New Asia meets New Nordic at the Modern Sky Helsinki festival

On August 28–29, Modern Sky Helsinki, a new urban festival, will take over the historical Hietalahti shipyard behind the renowned Club Nosturi in the heart of Helsinki. A joint venture between Modern Sky, the producer behind China’s leading music festivals, and Finnish music stalwarts Live Music Association ELMU ry and Helsinki Festival, the festival will present two days of the freshest Asian and Nordic acts spread across three stages.

Established in China and having produced festivals in the USA, this is the first time Modern Sky brings one of its festivals to Europe. Under the theme ‘New Nordic meets New Asia’, Modern Sky Helsinki brings together a buzzing mix of new international pop, rock and electronic music from both Asian metropolitan cities and the Nordic.

”This is a real chance to see fresh and exotic artists in a unique atmosphere,” says head of festival Jani Joenniemi.

A true Asian-Nordic fusion, the festival will inspire all the senses. The century-old shipyard atmosphere will be decorated, and gigs will be spiced up with stunning visuals under the darkening August sky. Top chefs from both Asia and the Nordic will be cooking delicious dishes that fill the air with exotic scent.

The roster is packed with plenty of exciting Asian acts, which will be balanced out with the coolest acts from the Nordic countries.
